Children's Aikido Program

We’ve are restarting the children’s program under the direction of Nicholas Johnson and with the assistance of Charles Neal, Thomas Kurucz.  Classes will be twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday, from 4:30 – 5:15. Children ages seven and up are welcome.  If we have a large disparity in ages, we will divide the class and work with the students in appropriate sub-groups.

We take the safety of our children very seriously.  To ensure their safety, we run criminal background checks on all instructors and assistant instructors.  Furthermore, instructors and assistants are required to complete SafeSport™, a program to protect and detect abuse used by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committees, https://uscenterforsafesport.org.

The first week of classes will begin Tuesday, March 29.  We will not charge March 29 and 31 classes.

Please note, prior to the first class you MUST show evidence of full COVID vaccination for both yourself and your child.  We do not hold medical information so a simple photo on your phone of the vaccination cards will suffice.

Also, because we needed to reincorporate, you will be required to complete a new waiver for your child prior to the first class they attend so please arrive early.

We hope to see you on March 29th or later.  If you intend to participate an RSVP is appreciated, but not required.

Domo arigato gozaimashita!

Aikido is sometimes called the non-violent martial art or even moving meditation. It is suitable both for the active child and for the child who would like to become more active. Aikido develops coordination, self-confidence, poise, and discipline in a friendly, noncompetitive atmosphere.

When taught and trained correctly it can be an effective martial art.  However, it is also applicable to non-physical situations. Students learn not to escalate confrontations but rather try to resolve them in a manner that will reduce future negative physical or verbal encounters.

The children's program is for children 7 to 13.  Parents or guardians may participate in the children's classes at no charge.

The first class is free!
